A jawline that has started to blur and the first jowls either side of the chin are, in our experience, among the commonest reasons people ask about Morpheus8 for the face. The 24-pin face tip delivers radiofrequency heat at up to 4 mm below the skin, deepest over the jowl where there is tissue to contract, to tighten it and build collagen along the jaw. A course is three sessions, four to six weeks apart. From £295 per session at 8 Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing at a free consultation.
What it does on the jawline
The clinician works the lower face in zones with two or three passes, the deepest over the jowl and the soft tissue in front of the angle of the jaw. The passes are shallower along the bone of the jawline itself, which InMode's guidance treats as a bony area. The heat contracts the deeper tissue during the session, the tightening shows from about three weeks, and the collagen that follows firms the line over the three months after the course. A heavy jowl of hanging skin is more than Morpheus8 tightens, and the clinician says so and plans the right treatment instead.
The evidence
The device is FDA-cleared in the US for dermatological procedures needing coagulation or contraction of soft tissue. In a 2020 study of 247 patients treated on the lower face and neck with Morpheus8 and another radiofrequency device, 93% were pleased with the result. In a 2021 series of nine patients treated on the jowl and neck after a facelift, with Morpheus8 and a second radiofrequency device, 55% showed marked improvement at six months and all were satisfied at three. A 2025 safety study that included 233 jawlines reported no pigment change, scarring or prolonged redness.
Who it suits, and the session
Early jowls and a softening jawline on skin that still has elasticity, in someone who wants a firmer line without surgery. At the higher energy levels the device is cleared in the US for skin types I to IV; darker skin is treated at lower settings, and the clinician says at the free consultation what is safe for yours. Numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes, then 30 to 45 minutes for the face, with redness, swelling and the grid marks of the pins for two to five days; the downtime page goes through it day by day. The change shows from about three weeks, peaks at three months after the last session, and lasts a year or more in our clinic's experience with one maintenance session a year.
