The vertical lines on the upper lip, the lines that run down from the corners of the mouth, and the crepey skin around it are treated with the small tip at shallow depth. What it does around the mouth
The 12-pin tip works at about 2 mm and then 1 mm over the upper lip and the skin around the mouth, following the curve over the teeth. Lines etched into the skin soften as collagen fills them from below; the lines made by pursing the lips keep forming with the muscle, so the improvement is in the skin's surface and thickness, not in the movement. Deep folds from the nose to the mouth are a volume question, and the clinician says so at the free consultation.
The evidence
The device is FDA-cleared in the US for dermatological procedures needing coagulation or contraction of soft tissue. A 2025 safety study that included 353 mouth areas reported no darker or lighter patches, scarring or prolonged redness. Studies measure the face as a whole rather than the mouth alone, and we say so.
Who it suits, and the session
Fine vertical lip lines, early marionette lines and crepey skin around the mouth, in someone treating the face or this zone alone. At the higher energy levels the device is cleared in the US for skin types I to IV; darker skin is treated at lower settings. Numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes; the mouth is treated within a face session, with redness, swelling and grid marks for two to five days.
